Computational Biologist

Location: Bethesda, MD

We seek a computational biologist with a background in genotype analysis to develop infrastructure to analyze large-scale genomic data with clinical phenotype data. Responsibilities will include genotype analysis pipeline development, data reformatting, data quality control, management of a relational database, data curation, and communication with external investigators. Development of web based tools for the analysis and display of data produced by studies of genome wide association.

Required skills

Ph.D. or M.S. or sufficient experience in genetic linkage analysis and/or allelic association studies
Scripting experience in Perl
Relational database experience (SQL)
Linux/UNIX experience
Ability to work with a team in a production environment and communicate well with biologists and programmers as well as external scientists
Strong interest in contributing to the development of public database resources

Database Administrator

Location: Bethesda, MD

Seeking a database administrator to work in a complex, fast paced environment with multiple databases.

Required skills:

Solid knowledge of and experience with database security and its related issues, challenges, and best practice.
Ability to guide application developers handling database security problems.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing database monitoring and database back-up and recovery.
Demonstrated experience of applying patches in a high availability environment.
Demonstrated experience of Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle release migration (including planning, coordinating, testing, Troubleshooting and guiding developers, etc.)
Solid knowledge and experience of Unix Administration preferably Solaris, shell scripting and NAS or SAN storage systems.

Design and writing of C++ components for CGI programs running on Solaris; consulting on and solving cross-browser issues, and creating reusable dynamic HTML user interface widgets.
